An MSP’s guide to client Cambium estates after administration
If you manage Cambium-based networks for clients, the work this month is triage, a clear message to clients and a migration you can repeat site after site without hiring a team to run servers.

Managed service providers carry the sharpest end of the Cambium situation. Clients are calling, the estate may run to thousands of access points across dozens of accounts, and there is a date on the calendar. Here is a practical order of work.
1. Triage the estate
- Export everything now. Configuration, device lists and site structure for every client account, while cnMaestro Cloud is available.
- Rank clients by risk. Hospitality and healthcare first; anywhere a failed access point has to be replaced within hours.
- Find the sites you cannot reach remotely. They take longest, so they go first.
- Count devices, not sites. Controller sizing and pricing both follow device numbers.
2. Tell clients early, and plainly
Clients are reading the same headlines. The message that lands is short: your Wi-Fi keeps working, your hardware is fine, we are moving the management system to a safe home, and here is when. Silence is what loses accounts.
3. Choose where the estates will live
Standing up your own controllers on a public cloud is possible, and for a large estate it is a real commitment: several large virtual machines, backups, monitoring, security tooling and an engineer on call, which comes to thousands of pounds a month before anyone has migrated a single site. We compare the routes in cnMaestro Cloud alternatives.
With CloudWLC, one account owns as many dedicated controllers as your business needs. Keep smaller clients separate inside one controller, give a large client a controller of its own, and place controllers by region. Nothing is shared with unrelated customers.
4. Make migration repeatable
The value of a guided migration is that the hundredth site goes the same way as the first. CloudWLC’s browser extension collects a client’s configuration from your signed-in Cambium session and rebuilds it on the new controller; you review the scope, choose the access points and switch them in the agreed window. We never ask for a Cambium password.
5. Price it so it scales
CloudWLC’s volume pricing is graduated, so the per-device rate falls as the estate grows and there is never a jump at a threshold: 5,000 Cambium devices is £1,194 a month, and 23,000 is £2,984, with a dedicated controller included for every 2,500 devices. It is all self-service, and there is a box on the sign-up form for your target budget.
Quick answers
Can one CloudWLC account manage several client estates?
Yes. One account can own many dedicated controllers, and clients can be kept separate within a controller or given a controller of their own.
How is a large estate priced?
Per device, on a graduated scale that falls as the estate grows, with one dedicated controller included for every 2,500 devices. The calculator on the pricing page shows the exact figure.
